DeLand, FL – No injuries are reported after a small plane made an emergency landing near a DeLand landfill Wednesday morning.
The pilot of a 2011 Quick Silver 2S ultra-light plane and his passenger made it out of the plane on their own after touching down at Landfill DeLand on West Plymouth Avenue.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene around 8:30am Wednesday to investigate, according to an incident report.
According to the report, the pilot/owner of the plane told deputies he had to land quickly because the plane lost power in the air, probably because air got into the fuel line.
The report also noted that deputies found the plane with its nose dug into the ground and its tail in the air.
The owner of the plane had it removed from the landfill after officials with the Federal Aviation Administration refused to investigate the crash, per the report.
