Flagler County, FL – Public school officials in Flagler County say a “threat” against schools there was determined to be unfounded. School officials say a parent came forward to a school administrator with what’s being called “third-party information” that was found online and was a threat of violence against some unspecified schools and school systems.

School administrators were made aware of the threat and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office investigated. The online post was made out of state and threatened schools, though no particular school was named. Authorities determined the threat was unfounded.

During the investigation, schools were on a yellow alert status which meant additional deputies were on school campuses.  That status was expected to return to green at some time today.

In a press release sent out by the school system, Superintendent Jacob Oliva says “student safety is of utmost importance to us and we are taking every necessary step to ensure that safety is not compromised. We also remind parents of the Sheriff’s Office campaign of ‘See Something, Say Something,’ reporting any suspicious activity to proper authorities. Our thanks also go out to the Sheriff’s Office for their quick work on this case. Our planning, training and cooperation paid off as we all acted quickly to address the unfounded threat.”
