Daytona Beach, FL – No serious injuries are reported after a 2-vehicle crash led to 1 of those vehicles striking a Daytona Beach church building.
The Daytona Beach Fire Department says it happened around 1 PM Wednesday at the Mount Bethel Baptist Institutional Church on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.
A white Dodge Ram had to be towed from the scene after a black car going south on MLK struck the truck and pushed it into the church, according to DBFD spokeswoman Sasha Staton.
“Both drivers refused medical treatment and no one inside the church was injured,” Staton added. “The exterior of the church received the only damage. No damage inside the church.”
Authorities believe the truck was going north on MLK when it tried to make a left turn onto South Street, going right into the path of the black car.
“There [were] people inside the church when the accident occurred,” Staton noted. “They heard the wreck and called 911.”
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and traffic was blocked temporarily while crews cleaned up the road.
