Flagler Beach, FL – A Palm Coast man is charged with robbing a Flagler Beach supermarket last fall in broad daylight.
48-year-old Daniel Joseph Fountain was charged with felony counts of robbery and grand theft in the October 5th robbery of the Publix on 414 Village Drive.
Flagler Beach Police Department Captain Matt Doughney says the arrest warrants were signed by a Flagler County judge on Thursday, the day before Fountain was found and arrested in St. Johns County on those charges as well as for violating probation.
“The Publix robbery is now solved and the suspect has been charged accordingly,” Doughney added. “The efforts by all involved in this case is greatly appreciated and the clearance of this case with an arrest is outstanding police work.”
Fountain is held on $300,000 bond at the St. Johns County Jail.
FBPD asked the public for help finding the suspect hours after the store was robbed around 12:30 PM that day.
Officers say the suspect entered the store, went to the customer service desk and told the clerk to put money in a bag he had brought with him.
The suspect implied to the clerk that he had a weapon but no actual weapon was seen, according to the incident report.
“Cases like this one can take a lot of time and effort to solve,” Doughney noted. “We worked diligently and patiently, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.”
The suspect ran out of the Publix on foot after taking a large amount of cash, per the report. The exact amount taken wasn’t specified.
