Daytona Beach, FL – Police in Daytona Beach have charged 19-year-old Ryan Beck with the burglary at the Daytona Lagoon on June 23 and say he told officers in a recorded interview that he did it because he was “bored”.
A man was seen on security video inside the business at 601 Earl Street around 11:30pm that night.
Beck’s arrest came after police had issued an appeal to the public for help identifying the suspect.
Police have also charged Beck with criminal mischief in the case of an earlier break-in at the same business in April. Officers say Beck admitted during a jail interview that he was with another individual during that earlier crime.
Police say during the June crime a cash register was removed from the building and found nearby on one of the decks. An employee said it was empty at the time. The business suffered about $200 in damage.
During the interview officers showed Beck both sets of photos from the security cameras and say he confessed to both crimes.
Beck is charged with multiple counts in both crimes and booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail.
