Daytona Beach, FL – 2015 ended strong for hoteliers throughout Volusia County.
The latest report from Mid-Florida Marketing & Research – the company responsible for gathering and analyzing all kinds of tourism-related data for the county – shows a 63% hotel occupancy rate for the entire year. That’s 3% above the 60% posted for 2014 and 6% above the 57% posted for 2013.
Other than June and August, every other month in 2015 saw gains in the hotel occupancy rate compared to the year before, led by the 80% posted in March. July came in #2 at 77% and April was #3 at 70%.
The 48% hotel occupancy rate posted for December was the lowest of all months in 2015, but it was a 2% improvement over the same month in 2014 and a 9% jump over December 2013.
Average daily rate per hotel room went up to $114.57 in 2015. It was at $107.74 in 2014 and $104.33 in 2013.
Last December’s average daily rate of $91.25 was slightly above the $91.13 posted for December 2014. That means the average daily rate per hotel room went up every month in 2015 when compared to the same month in 2014, with 9 of those months showing an average daily rate of over $100 per room.
Revenue per available room – also known as REV/PAR – came in at $71.88 in 2015. It was at $64.56 in 2014 and $59.14 in 2013. REV/PAR went up every month in 2015 with the exception of August.
Mid-Florida officials say attendees of the NAIA National Football Championship Game – held at Daytona Beach’s Municipal Stadium – helped boost December’s numbers.
