Daytona Beach, FL - No injuries are reported after a scooter caught fire while its driver was riding down Ballough Road.
The Daytona Beach Fire Department says firefighters were called out to the scene in front of the Sunset Harbor Yacht Club around 2:40 PM Thursday.
DBFD spokeswoman Sasha Staton says the driver of the scooter – a 149cc Tao Tao – was tipped off by other drivers when they saw smoke coming from his scooter.
“He pulled over and safely got off the scooter before it caught fire,” Staton added. “[He] told firefighters that he thinks there may have been a gas leak but isn’t sure.”
Firefighters arrived on scene around 5 minutes later and put the fire out. The scooter was completely destroyed.
