Ormond Beach, FL – Investigators are on the case after a man ends up dead soon after he was pulled from a water-filled ditch near Ormond Beach.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says the man was face down in the ditch when Holly Hill police officers found him Tuesday afternoon near the historic Holly Hill arches.
VCSO spokesman Gary Davidson says the man was still alive when he was taken to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Ormond Beach by paramedics, but he died there soon after.
“The man was found shortly after 3pm on the west side of a ditch off of Calle Grande Street,” Davidson added. “A bicycle believed to belong to the man also was in the water.”
The officers told VCSO the man had a faint pulse when they pulled him out of the ditch and started CPR, per Davidson.
“The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s dive team is being dispatched to the scene to retrieve the bicycle and look for any other property belonging to the victim,” Davidson added. “There were no immediate indications of foul play.”
The victim’s identity hasn’t been released yet by VCSO.
