Volusia County, FL-Florida’s back-to-school sales tax holiday starts Friday and this year it’s ten days of savings that experts say offers everyone, even people with no school-age children, a chance to shop for bargains. The Florida Retail Federation’s James Miller recommends comparison shopping and looking for coupons to boost savings.
So, what qualifies?
- School supplies up to $15.
- Shoes and clothing up to $100.
- Computers, technology or computer supplies up to $750.
State lawmakers last year voted to extend the holiday which was originally only a three-day weekend event. Ten days is the longest for the event since the sales tax holiday began in 1998. It’s expected to save shoppers $67.8 million.
