Daytona Beach, FL – The president of a local university campus is suspended from his job after police believe he was carjacked while meeting 2 women for sex.
60-year-old Matt McEnany – the president of Keiser University’s Daytona campus – hasn’t been formally charged by the Daytona Beach Police Department in that Sunday night incident.
According to the incident report, McEnany called 911 for help around 8:15pm from the intersection of Lenox Avenue and South Peninsula Drive.
McEnany told officers he was driving a 2011 Toyota Venza when he stopped at the 100 block of Lenox to meet 2 women he called “Luscious” and “Brittany”, per the report.
DBPD says McEnany claimed the women were at the home of one of their grandmothers and that he had first met them a few months ago when he gave them a ride after the vehicle they were in at the time broke down.
According to the report, McEnany got out of the car to talk to the women and that’s when he was hit from behind by an unknown man and shoved to the ground.
Officers believe the man forced McEnany to give up his wallet and $100 in his pocket, then made him stay on the ground face-down before jumping in the driver’s seat and leaving northbound on Peninsula, with the 2 women coming along for the ride.
A 70-year-old woman who lives nearby and witnessed the incident told DBPD she thought it was all a joke at first until McEnany started “swiping” his legs like they were “covered in bugs” and screamed for help.
McEnany suffered a minor elbow scrape and declined transport to the hospital, per the report.
Security guards at Halifax Health Medical Center’s main location on North Clyde Morris Boulevard called DBPD around 2am the following morning after finding the Toyota abandoned in a parking lot.
DBPD Chief Mike Chitwood told the media afterward that he believed McEnany was meeting the women for sex, though the incident report itself doesn’t make any mention of that.
Officials at Keiser University say McEnany has been suspended and that they are cooperating with police in the investigation.
No description of the man was given by McEnany to DBPD other than he’s likely African American.
“Luscious” was described as a Hispanic woman in her early to mid 20’s and “Brittany” as a white woman in her early to mid-20s, per the report. Both stand around 5’6 and weigh around 110 to 120 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call DBPD at 386-671-5100 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
