Daytona Beach, FL- At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universit today Scott Spratt of the National Weather Service will be on hand to award the school it’s “StormReady” designation. Spratt says Riddle has met a stringent list of criteria to become the 13th FL university to get the badge.
Spratt says a Christmas Day tornado that hit campus some years ago led to the university beefing up it’s communications and response model to earn the NWS designation.
The StormReady program recognizes a commitment to implement infrastructure and systems needed to save lives and protect property when severe weather events happen.
The ceremony is at 11 AM at the Administration and Welcome Center.
