Deltona, FL – Detectives are investigating after a man walked into a Deltona pharmacy bleeding from a stab wound in his stomach.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect is in custody and is being questioned in the stabbing of that man.
VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant says it all started Thursday morning at the CVS Pharmacy at 1250 Providence Boulevard, close to the East Normandy Boulevard intersection.
“We received [a] call at 10:45am stating that a man bleeding from the stomach had just walked into the store and was now lying on the floor in front of the register,” Gant added. “Someone who witnessed the stabbing reported seeing the suspect running away along Normandy Boulevard in the direction of Saxon Boulevard.”
The suspect was caught around 10 minutes after the call for help came in, according to Gant. It isn’t clear at this time if he’s being charged.
The victim and the suspect – neither of which have been identified at this time – were arguing just before the suspect was stabbed in the CVS parking lot, per Gant.
“Witnesses told us that the victim and perpetrator had been arguing inside the store and then exited the store and got into a vehicle, but that the stabbing had occurred outside the vehicle,” Gant said. “We still have some investigating to do in order to confirm some of the details and determine exactly what happened.”
Paramedics took the victim by ambulance to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford for treatment.
