Ormond-By-The-Sea, FL – Deputies are investigating after a man was shot and wounded in a home invasion in Ormond-By-The-Sea.
Deputies say it happened just before 7pm Monday at the home at 119 Roberta Drive.
VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant says 3 armed men entered the home and demanded money, shooting 20-year-old Michael McCoy.
“The victim sustained 2 grazing gunshot wounds to his head and leg,” Gant added. “[McCoy] was treated and released at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach.”
Deputies say the residents first tried to take McCoy to the hospital in a vehicle but stopped for help at the Americano Beach Lodge in Daytona Beach.
6 people were inside the home at the time, according to VCSO, with 2 of them claiming they didn’t see what happened because they were in a bedroom at the time.
The 3 suspects got away and are only described as males in their 20’s wearing t-shirts and hats, per Gant.
“The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing,” Gant noted.
