DeBary, FL-Deputies and other VCSO personnel working in DeBary didn’t have far to go to move into new quarters Wednesday as the new office is across the street from the previous one. Sheriff’s Office staff that provides law enforcement to DeBary under a service contract with the city moved into the newly completed public safety facility at 79 S. Charles R. Beall Blvd.
The previous office, right across the street, has been home for the previous 13 years.
VCSO spokesman Gary Davidson says 59 people work out of that facility and that includes school crossing guards, a crossing guard supervisor and 11 volunteers.
Patrol deputies, investigators and a K-9 unit also among the personnel working out of the DeBary office.
Davidson says the new office more than doubles the previous work space.
Sheriff Ben Johnson said he’s elated with the new facility. “The city and its residents have been very generous in providing us with the work space that our employees need to get the job done,” said Sheriff Johnson. “However, we had sorely outgrown our previous building and it had become inadequate to meet our needs. The new building is in a great location and gives us room to grow.”
