Ormond Beach, FL – Police have a man in custody after an armed barricade situation at a home near Airport Road. Ormond Beach Police PIO Officer Keith Walker identifies the man as 36-year-old Kevin Hamilton and says he surrendered around 830 AM.
Walker says it began with a domestic call to the home on Levee Lane around 1 AM where a man was reported to be armed and holding a woman and two kids. Walker says the woman and two children were able to escape and ran to a neighbors home.
The man was taken into custody around 830 AM. Walker says Hamilton surrendered.
Earlier Hamilton refused to come out. Neighbors were being evacuated from the area and a reverse 911 call went out to a mile radius around the scene warning people to stay inside.
The home is at 93 Levee Lane and is near Airport Road
Walker says Hamilton is charged with counts including domestic violence with strangulation, aggravated assault with a firearm and child abuse.
