Palm Coast, FL – A 57-year-old Palm Coast man pleads guilty to receiving child pornography online.
Gioacchino Campo faces anywhere between 5 and 20 years in federal prison after entering his plea in federal court on Friday, according to the United States Department of Justice.
Prosecutors say Campo was caught in an undercover child porn investigation being run by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to court documents, an FBI agent based in Jacksonville traced a computer to Campo’s home that was hosting child porn images and videos online through a file sharing program.
The agent claims he was able to download several child porn files from Campo’s computer and that’s what led to federal agents serving a search warrant at Campo’s home in March 2014, seizing computers and other electronic media.
A forensic analysis of Campo’s computer found at least 50 child porn videos, according to prosecutors.
When questioned afterward, Campo admitted to downloading child pornography for the past 5 years, per DOJ.
A sentencing date hasn’t been set at this time, according to DOJ spokesman William Daniels.
