Daytona Beach, FL – A major gasoline supplier with a long history in NASCAR becomes a major part of the Daytona Rising project.
Daytona International Speedway announced on Tuesday that Sunoco becomes the 4th “Founding Partner” in Daytona Rising and will have naming rights for one of the 5 new fan entrances once the $400 million renovation project wraps up early next year.
“Sunoco is a long-time partner of [International Speedway Corporation] and we’re excited to further develop our relationship,” said ISC Chief Executive Officer Lesa France Kennedy. “A brand synonymous with motorsports for many years, Sunoco will continue to be a great asset across the ISC enterprise, adding to the overall fan experience.”
Financial details of the multi-year partnership weren’t announced, but DIS officials did say Sunoco will also have naming rights for one of the 11 “social neighborhoods” being created as part of the Speedway’s massive renovation. Each of those will have custom bar, retail and dining areas as well as dozens of video screens.
“ISC is taking the motorsports experience to new heights by creating a visually-compelling facility,” said Sunoco Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Cynthia Archer. “Fans will be amazed when they see the new motorsports stadium and Sunoco’s engaging injector experience for the first time in 2016.”
Sunoco has been NASCAR’s official fuel sponsor since 2004, providing a special brand for all the vehicles participating in the Sprint Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck series.
Chevrolet, Toyota and Florida Hospital have already been announced as Founding Partners for Daytona Rising, meaning that only 1 of the 5 new fan entrances has no sponsor at this time.
The newly renovated Speedway is expected to be complete prior to next year’s Daytona 500.
