Ponce Inlet, FL-After four months of treatment, Fabio is ready to head back to the sea. The sea turtle will be released, if conditions allow, at noon Thursday near the Beach Street ramp in Ponce Inlet.
Fabio, an 83-pound loggerhead, was found stranded in Flagler Beach in May. At the time he weighed 73 pounds and was found to have a sluggish digestive system which was causing him severe problems.
Fabio was treated at the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet.
Since Jan. 1, the Marine Science Center has treated 106 sea turtles; dozens of hatchlings; and 75 other reptiles, including gopher tortoises, box turtles and freshwater turtles.
