Ormond Beach, FL – A 60-year-old man who runs an Ormond Beach pharmacy is behind bars after federal drug agents raided that pharmacy and another in Volusia County.
Magdy Fam – the co-owner of Ormond Pharmacy on 500 West Granada Boulevard – is held on $585,000 bond at Volusia County Jail as of 3:30pm Friday.
VCJ records show Fam’s been charged with 4 counts of possession of hydrocodone with intent to sell or deliver, 4 counts of being the principal in selling or delivering prescription medication, 2 counts of trafficking in hydrocodone and possession of oxycodone with intent to sell or deliver.
Fam’s arrest comes on the same day that the United States Drug Enforcement Administration served search warrants at Ormond Pharmacy as well as Peters Pharmacy on Orange Camp Road in DeLand.
DEA officials say the warrants deal with illegal sales of prescription drugs.
Another pharmacist – 40-year-old Michael Kamel – was also arrested as part of this investigation. He’s being held on $400,000 bond at VCJ as of 5pm Friday on 1 count each of trafficking in hydrocodone and trafficking in hydromorphone.
The DEA is also looking to arrest a 3rd man in connection to this case, but his name hasn’t been released.
