Deltona, FL – Deputies are searching for a man driving a dark green 4-door car who allegedly shot another man during a road rage incident on Interstate 4 near Deltona.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 4:45pm Saturday at the eastbound exit ramp on Dirksen Drive.

VCSO spokesman Gary Davidson says the man who was shot – 51-year-old Stephen Dubuc of Ormond Beach – drove himself to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford for treatment and that his injury isn’t life-threatening.

“The incident occurred when a passenger car heading eastbound on I-4 just west of Deltona reportedly cut off a tractor-trailer driving in the same direction,” Davidson noted. “The passenger car exited the interstate at Dirksen Drive along with a mini-van that wasn’t involved in the initial incident.”

The driver of the passenger car – believed to be a Hispanic man in his 20’s with shoulder length curly hair, tattoos on both arms and a band-aid on the side of his face – then stopped his car at the end of the exit ramp for a traffic light and got into a shouting match with the driver of the mini-van.

Davidson says Dubuc was the man driving the mini-van and that he was telling the Hispanic man to watch his driving.

“Both drivers got out of their vehicles and got into an argument that turned into a fist fight,” Davidson added. “After both drivers returned to their vehicles, the driver of the passenger car started shooting at the mini-van.”

Several rounds hit the mini-van, with one of them hitting Dubuc in the lower part of his right leg, per Davidson.

“The suspect was last seen driving eastbound on Dirksen Drive in a dark green 4-door Toyota or Nissan passenger car,” Davidson stated.

The suspect was also wearing a baseball cap at the time of the shooting, according to VCSO.

Investigators shut down the eastbound exit ramp for about an hour to process the crime scene. It re-opened around 6:30pm Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to call VCSO at 386-943-8276 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
