Port Orange, FL – A 68-year-old Port Orange man is taken to the hospital after crashing his vehicle into a home.
Paramedics took Keith H. Coykendall to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for treatment following the Thursday morning accident at a home on Southwinds Drive.
Port Orange Police Department Lieutenant Scott Brozio says investigators are looking into exactly what caused the accident, which happened around 10:40am.
“Officers found that Coykendall lost control of his vehicle and drove into the residence,” Brozio added. “The residents were not injured during the crash.”
The vehicle – a Kia Soul – slammed into the home’s master bedroom while the residents were inside, according to officials at the scene.
A building inspector with the City of Port Orange came out to check on the home, declaring the master bedroom area unsafe but the rest of the home as safe.
Coykendall’s injuries aren’t life threatening, per Brozio. No other injuries were reported.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information about it is asked to call POPD Motor Officer Josh Eddy at 386-506-5838.
