Daytona Beach, FL – Jobs continues to be a prominent theme for Florida Governor Rick Scott.

The Republican came to Daytona Beach on Thursday to join local leaders in announcing the opening of a transportation and logistics firm that could bring lots of new jobs to the area.

Total Quality Logistics – an Ohio-based company with over 3,500 employees across the United States – opened up shop earlier this week at 130 North Ridgewood Avenue with 12 employees and has already hired 3 more since then, according to company officials.

TQL specializes in working as a middle man between trucking companies and those looking to ship all kinds of products.

Volusia County officials say TQL has plans to create around 100 new jobs in Daytona Beach, with the average salary of those jobs being around $5,000 higher than the current county average of $33,570.

Prior to TQL’s arrival in Daytona Beach, the Volusia County Council approved a plan to allow TQL to join a state tax refund program that could give the company up to $300,000 in tax breaks. 20% of that money would be coming from the county and the rest from the state.

TQL – which has 36 offices in 19 states, including 5 in Florida – reported $2.14 billion in sales revenue last year.

Florida’s seen an increase of over 940,000 jobs in the past 5 years, according to Scott’s office.
