Palm Coast, FL – A Palm Coast woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle in the F section.
26-year-old Bailey Anne Cagliuso was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach soon after the accident took place on Felshire Lane near Fellowship Drive.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Cagliuso was coming from the driveway of a nearby residence when a white 1997 Chevrolet Lumina heading south on Felshire hit Cagliuso’s bicycle just before 7pm Wednesday.
Troopers say the driver of the Lumina – 18-year-old Kiara Hemby of Orangeburg, South Carolina – wasn’t hurt. Neither was Ayden Hemby, a 3-year-old Palm Coast boy sitting in a passenger seat. Troopers didn’t say if they are related.
The accident report did show that charges are pending the results of tests to see if alcohol or drugs were a factor for the driver and Cagliuso.
It also showed that the driver was wearing a seat belt but the child was not. FHP’s report also showed that Cagliuso wasn’t wearing a helmet.
