Volusia County, FL-The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has ended bear hunting in Central Florida and the East Panhandle after the first day. FWC officials say those hunting areas were closed while the North and South hunting areas would stay open.
FWC said “hunting objectives” had been met in the two areas that are now closed. The target total for bears taken is 320. On the first day of the hunt, 207 bears were killed.
81 bears were killed in the East Panhandle in the first day. 99 bears were killed in the Central FL hunting area.
