Oak Hill, FL – An Oak Hill woman is behind bars after investigators say she stole thousands of dollars from her employer to pay for sex with a man.
As of 3pm Tuesday, 53-year-old Kelly Hardison is held on $100,000 bond at Volusia County Jail on an organized scheme to defraud charge. She was initially arrested on Friday.
The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says Hardison stole between $20,000 to $50,000 from Jackson Hole RV & Fish Camp and Pro Steel while working for each company as a bookkeeper between June 2013 and September 2014.
According to the arrest report, Hardison opened a debit card account in the RV park’s name and used it to make all kinds of purchases and ATM withdrawals.
Investigators say it all started when a tax preparer working for the businesses – both owned by the same person – found financial irregularities and reported them to VCSO.
While working on the money trail, VCSO says they ran into a 35-year-old Sanford man who called Hardison his “sugar momma” and claimed she wrote him up to 35 checks from Pro Steel to pay for sexual encounters at various locations, including hotels.
Per the report, the man told investigators he met Hardison when she got into car trouble on the side of a road in Osteen and the relationship grew from there to where they regularly saw one another over the next 18 months.
The man also claimed that Hardison told him she was the owner of Pro Steel and that she would buy him gifts as well as give him money for sex.
The report shows that Hardison also wrote checks to the man’s mother and girlfriend, but he claimed to deputies that he told Hardison his girlfriend was really his cousin because he was afraid Hardison would stop paying him if he told her the truth.
He also admitted in the report that he never told his mother or girlfriend the nature of his relationship with Hardison.
The man isn’t facing charges at this time, per VCSO.
