Volusia County, FL - Deputies have a suspect in custody who they say drugged, kidnapped and sexually battered a 20-year-old woman in Orange City about two weeks ago.
39-year-old Jason Minton is charged. VCSO spokesman Gary Davidson says Minton turned himself in at the jail last night.
The woman told deputies she agreed to go out on a date with Minton earlier this month. He was supposed to take her to dinner but stopped at a bar in Orange City and bought her drinks. The pair left and she thought they were going to the restaurant, but Minton drove to his home on West Minnesota Avenue where the woman says he forced some sort of white pill down her throat. She told investigators she almost immediately became incapacitated and couldn’t move or speak. She woke up with Minton on top of her and she tried to fight him off but described fading in and out of consciousness during the alleged attack. She told deputies at one point he got off of her and she was able to run from the home. A relative took her to the hospital for treatment.
Minton is being held without bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
