Daytona Beach, FL – The Ferraris are coming to the World Center of Racing.
Daytona International Speedway announced on Friday that it will host the 2016 Ferrari World Finals, the first time that event will be held in North America.
“We are grateful and honored to serve as the host facility for the 2016 Ferrari World Finals,” said DIS President Joie Chitwood. “Ferrari brings to the ‘World Center of Racing’ both powerful racing machines and an incredible brand.”
The Ferrari World Finals – a 4-day event – brings together all competitors from the European, North American and Asia Pacific series of the Ferrari Challenge.
The racing begins December 1st on the Speedway’s 3.56-mile road course. There will also be an open test day the day prior to the event, according to Ferrario spokesman Antonello Coletta.
“A relationship of close cooperation has been established between Ferrari and this historic racetrack over many years,” Coletta added. “The World Finals is a further development of this already established relationship.”
The Ferrari world championship is usually held in Italy or in the United Arab Emirates.
Other highlights of that weekend will be the display and running of historic Formula 1 cars, Ferrari’s exclusive XX Program and the Scuderia Ferrari’s Formula 1 show featuring top Formula 1 drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel.
Ferrari is usually one of the top car manufacturers in the Rolex 24, with 5 overall victories and a 1-2-3 finish in 1967.
DIS officials say tickets and more information on the Ferrari World Finals will be released in the coming months.
