Daytona Beach, FL – It looks like the record-breaking and unseasonable heat is about to leave Central Florida, but it’s not going without a fight.
The National Weather Service reports that the temperature reached 88 degrees at 12:20pm on Monday in Daytona Beach, 3 degrees above the all-time record high of 85 set on that date (November 9th) in 1986.
That comes following a week where record heat was also recorded on 2 days in Daytona Beach.
November 2nd’s high of 90 degrees not only set the record for that date but was the hottest temperature ever recorded in the city for the month of November. November 3rd also set a new record in Daytona Beach when the high reached 89 degrees.
Having said that, it looks like Monday will be the last of the record-setting heat days.
NWS meteorologists expect the temperature to cool down to mid-80’s on Monday afternoon and then slowly make its way into the mid-70’s by Sunday.
Highs aren’t expected to go above 82 degrees for the rest of the week.
Other than a 30% chance of rain on Monday and a 20% chance of rain on Tuesday, rain chances are at 0% until Sunday, but lows are expected to drop as far as 58 degrees on Wednesday night.
If that happens, it’ll be the first time this fall where the thermometer has fallen below 60 degrees in Daytona Beach, according to NWS.
