Seminole County, FL – A Palm Coast teenager is among 2 dead after a speeding sport utility vehicle hit stop sticks and flipped over several times, ejecting everyone inside.
That 19-year-old man – yet to be identified – died around 2:45pm Monday on State Road 417 at Mile Marker 44 near Oviedo.
Troopers have yet to identify any of the 5 men in the 2007 Acura SUV at the time of the wreck, including the other man who died, a 22-year-old Orlando resident.
FHP says the driver of the SUV was speeding south on 417 when Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies dropped stop sticks across all southbound lanes in order to get the vehicle to slow down.
Troopers believe the left front tire was damaged by the stop sticks and that caused the driver to lose control, travel into the median and overturn.
The Palm Coast man died at the scene while the Orlando man died at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
2 of the other 3 men – including a 19-year-old Orlando resident – are in serious condition while an 18-year-old Orlando resident is in critical condition. They were taken by paramedics to either CFRH or Orlando Regional Medical Center.
FHP has not released any other information about the victims at this time, but did note that none of the men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs or were wearing seat belts when the accident happened.
Troopers are unsure at this point who was driving.
