New Smyrna Beach, FL – An Oak Hill woman is dead and an Oak Hill man is airlifted to the hospital following a 1-vehicle accident in New Smyrna Beach.
37-year-old Lacy J. Renfroe died at the accident scene on the 700 block of South Riverside Drive around 8:30pm Thursday, according to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.
Air One – the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office helicopter – took 54-year-old Robert M. McEndre to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach for treatment.
NSBPD Officer Richard Kirkland says it appears that the driver of a 2007 Jeep Cherokee – since identified as Renfroe – left the roadway for some reason and struck several items before coming to a rest against a large tree on the east side of the roadway.
McEndre was a passenger in the vehicle, according to Kirkland.
It’s unclear at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Kirkland at 386-424-2220 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
