Edgewater, FL – No serious injuries are reported after a truck filled with bags of ice flipped over on US 1 in Edgewater.
The Edgewater Fire Department says it happened around 2:45pm Friday on US 1/Ridgewood Avenue at the State Road 442/Indian River Boulevard intersection.
EFD Captain Jill Danigel says the driver of the truck was sitting on a nearby curb unhurt by the time firefighters got on scene.
“The driver of the truck advised he was carrying bagged ice for Snow Days Ice,” Danigel added. “[The] Edgewater Police Department routed traffic around the truck while Edgewater Towing and Recovery brought in a heavy duty tow truck to roll the truck upright and remove the bagged ice from the scene.”
Officials believe the truck was trying to turn from eastbound 442 to southbound US 1 when it overturned, spilling most of the ice onto a grassy patch.
At least 2 lanes were blocked while crews cleaned up. All lanes were re-opened by 4:30pm, per Danigel.
