Daytona Beach, FL – Another traffic shift is coming up on Interstate 4 near Daytona Beach as part of the ongoing widening project.

The Florida Department of Transportation plans to move all westbound traffic near the US 92 interchange over to the eastbound lanes starting Monday night into Tuesday morning.

FDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Horton says message boards and signs will be in place throughout the work zone to guide drivers through the area.

“Westbound traffic at the US 92 (International Speedway Boulevard) interchange from SR 400 (Beville Road) will be shifted over to the existing eastbound I-4 roadway,” Horton added. “The entrance ramp to I-4 westbound from US 92 southbound will be closed and motorists will be shifted over to the old I-4 exit ramp to US 92 northbound.”

Barrier walls will be in place to separate the eastbound and westbound lanes.

Moving the traffic over will allow the contractor to resume work on the I-4 westbound lanes, per Horton.

The widening of I-4 from 4 lanes to 6 between DeLand and Daytona Beach should be wrapped up sometime in spring, depending on weather conditions and other variables.
