Orange City, FL – One of Volusia County’s largest hospitals is about to show its new face.

Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City will host a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony at 11 AM Monday for its new main entrance.

Florida Hospital spokeswoman Lindsay Rew says it’s taken around 6 months to redo the front lobby, chapel and gift shop as well as the main entrance.

“This construction was part of a $1.75 million project that began in the summer and blocked the hospital’s main entrance and driveway loop for months,” Rew added.

A temporary main entrance was created and used during the renovation.

The redesigned chapel can now seat 20 people instead of 5, which was the capacity of the old chapel. It also has a large stained-glass window that will be lit at night and will be visible from outside the hospital.

The new chapel is being dedicated to Dianne Rodgers Swann, a former medical records director at the hospital who died of leukemia in 2005.

“She started at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in 1994 when it first opened and was very spiritual,” Rew added. “Employees raised more than $160,000 over several years in order to build and dedicate a new chapel in her honor.”
