Osteen, FL – Charges are pending after a 63-year-old Georgia man dies in a motorcycle accident in Volusia County.
The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 1:20 PM Monday on Lemon Bluff Road at the State Road 415 intersection in Osteen.
According to the accident report, a 2005 Ford truck going westbound on Lemon Bluff stopped at a stop sign as the victim rode a 2016 Indian motorcycle heading southbound on SR 415.
Troopers believe the motorcyclist went through the intersection as the truck tried to make a left hand turn onto SR 415, striking the motorcycle’s left side head-on.
The victim – a Sugar Hill resident – was knocked off the bike and died after paramedics took him to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.
FHP plans to release the victim’s identity once next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the Ford – 25-year-old Cierra South of Lake Mary – wasn’t hurt and was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, per troopers.
Troopers also noted that the victim wasn’t wearing a helmet and that neither alcohol nor drugs seemed to be a factor.
A road block is reported in the area while investigators process the scene as of 3:45 PM Monday.
