Daytona Beach, FL – The consultant tasked with finding a solution to Volusia County’s homeless problem will deliver his final report in Daytona Beach.
Dr. Robert Marbut will give a presentation on his report during Wednesday night’s Daytona Beach City Commission meeting. It starts at 6 PM from City Hall.
In the report, Marbut urges local leaders to move away from a “culture of enablement” to a “culture of engagement” when it comes to the homeless.
Marbut continues to push for the creation of the “Safe Harbor” shelter near the Volusia County Jail on land that the county has already offered on the condition that the cities pay the costs to run the 24-7 shelter.
This comes in the midst of ongoing complaints about large homeless gatherings in the heart of Daytona Beach, especially in the downtown area along Beach Street.
