Bunnell, FL – Detectives hope a billboard with a big reward on it will help them crack the case of a Bunnell man who disappeared under suspicious circumstances over 6 months ago.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office unveiled that billboard at 4368 North Ocean Shore Boulevard – about 7 miles north of State Road 100 – during a press conference on Tuesday.

Flagler County Sheriff Jim Manfre says George Contos – a 59-year-old resident of Apricot Avenue who goes by the nickname of “Uncle Waldo” – hasn’t been seen or heard from since last May 9th.

“Someone in our community knows what happened to George,” Manfre added. “We hope the reward motivates someone to come forward and solve this case for us.”

The billboard features a photo of Contos and offers a $10,000 reward for any information about his disappearance.

Family members who live out of the state called FCSO to report Contos’ disappearance on May 17th. It was 3 days after that when Contos’ white Lincoln Town Car was spotted unoccupied at the parking lot of an Ace Hardware store on Palm Coast Parkway.

Investigators suspect foul play in Contos’ disappearance after following up on leads and interviewing family, friends and people he knew, according to FCSO spokeswoman Laura Williams.

Contos is described as a white man who stands 5’11 and weighs around 230 pounds. He is diabetic and uses a prosthetic for his amputated left leg.

Anyone with information is asked to call FCSO Detective Erick Kuleski at 386-586-4839 or 386-313-4311. Those who want to remain anonymous and qualify for the reward can call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
