South Daytona, FL – A cafeteria worker at a Volusia County elementary school is out of a job after some students claim he got physical with some of them and made sexual comments at others.

Mamdouh Toma of Port Orange was fired by the Volusia County School Board during Tuesday night’s meeting following an internal investigation.

Volusia County Schools Superintendent Tom Russell made the recommendation to fire Toma – who was hired at South Daytona Elementary School in May 2013 – following an internal investigation. Toma has since filed a grievance in protest, according to VCS spokeswoman Nancy Wait.

The first allegations against the 58-year-old man were reported last November to the school principal, per Russell.

According to the investigative report, Toma allegedly told 2 5th grade girls at the school that they had “nice butts” and that he wanted to marry them. The report also claims Toma physically pinned at least 4 students’ foreheads to tables, leading to each of them getting cold packs before heading back to class.

The South Daytona Police Department has filed a battery charge against Toma in connection to at least 1 of the cases. He’s not been arrested or booked at Volusia County Jail.

Toma denied the allegations when confronted by school officials and claimed that he might be the subject of discrimination due to his “skin color or native origin”, according to a letter he submitted to the school district in November.
