Palm Coast, FL – An 18-year-old man is fighting for his life following a shooting Tuesday afternoon in the L-section of Palm Coast.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after the call for help came around 4pm, sending deputies to the intersection of Lewisdale Lane near Lewis Drive.
“The shooting occurred after witnesses said a group of black males was observed fighting outside a home,” said FCSO spokesman Jim Troiano. “The victim was found in the roadway.”
The victim – identified by FCSO as Phillip J. Haire – was found with gunshot wounds to his stomach and was airlifted in critical condition from the scene to the University of Florida-Shands Hospital in Jacksonville.
Troiano says it appears that Haire was shot intentionally, but investigators have a lot of work to do to figure out what exactly happened.
“It’s unclear who the shooter was,” Troiano stated. “Deputies received reports that 2 vehicles were involved in the incident, including a vehicle that had been reported stolen Monday from Palm Coast.”
That vehicle was found later on Tuesday along Bunker Hill Drive in Palm Coast – a few blocks away from where the man was shot – and it’s being processed for evidence.
FCSO is asking anyone with information about this shooting to call FCSO’s Investigative Services Division at 386-586-4801 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
