Daytona Beach Shores, FL – Investigators hope a sketch leads them to the man who attacked an elderly woman last week while she walked her dog along State Road A1A.

The Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety released a drawing of the suspect on Tuesday afternoon, a week after that attack near the Colony Villas on 3750 South Atlantic Avenue. The drawing is posted below this article.

The victim – a 71-year-old woman – was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach by paramedics following the attack.

She told officers that she was walking her dog when a stranger ran up to her, struck her in the head with some kind of object and then ran off heading west towards Cardinal Boulevard, according to the incident report.

The report also notes that the suspect – who never spoke to the woman and made no attempt to rob her – managed to elude DBS police and a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit that searched the area soon afterward.

The suspect is described as a thin dark-skinned male in his 20’s with short curly hair and a scar on the left side of his face. He’s facing battery charges once caught.

Anyone with information is asked to call DBS Public Safety’s Criminal Investigation Division at 386-763-5347 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
