Daytona Beach, FL – A 52-year-old dump truck driver is in serious condition following a crash that forced authorities to close down all lanes of Interstate 95 northbound in Daytona Beach for most of the overnight.

Glynis Hart of Daytona Beach was taken by paramedics to Halifax Health Medical Center for treatment soon after that accident took place around 7:15 PM Thursday on I-95 north at Mile Marker 260. That’s near where I-95 meets Interstate 4.

Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Kim Montes says Hart was making a delivery to a construction site along I-95 when the bed of the truck struck the I-4 overpass.

“[The] driver forgot to lower the bed of the dump truck as she began to travel northbound,” Montes added. “A sign and part of the overpass were damaged.”

Engineers with the Florida Department of Transportation say that it will take until around 4 AM Friday before all the debris and the damaged sign are removed.

The Beville Road overpass over I-95 is also shut down at this time, per Montes.

FHP’s accident report noted that alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor and that Hart was wearing a seat belt.

Charges are pending the completion of the investigation.
