Daytona Beach, FL – No injuries are reported after a space heater likely started a fire that caused major damage to a Daytona Beach home.
That’s the word from the Daytona Beach Fire Department after firefighters were called out to a home on the 800 block of Magnolia Avenue just before 11:30 AM Monday. That’s near the Franklin Street intersection.
DBFD spokeswoman Sasha Staton says firefighters had to break some of the home’s windows to get in side and put the fire out.
“[We] don’t know if the space heater malfunctioned or if it was the electrical, but it looks like that was the cause,” Staton said. “The fire was throughout the whole house.”
Investigators haven’t determined a dollar amount for the damage, but Staton said the home was “most likely” a total loss.
One person was in the home at the time of the fire, but he managed to get out without any injuries.
