Deland, FL – Volusia County public school students’ test scores on 2015 Advanced Placement exams improved reaching an all-time high this year according to public school officials. The number of students scoring 3 or higher on the test was the highest it’s ever been and posted an overall increase of 2.6%.
5,495 exams were taken in the school district with a 48.1% passing rate.
The improvement came in a year when there was increased participation in the AP exams. School officials say normally increased numbers of students taking an exam results in lower scores but that didn’t happen.
Students must score a 3, 4 or 5 to pass the AP exam.
“I am pleased to see students achieving at the highest rate on AP exams in Volusia’s history,” stated Superintendent Tom Russell. “This is an excellent example illustrating the dedication AP teachers and school administrators have to increasing student achievement. We are moving in the right direction.”
