New Smyrna Beach, FL - Some ahead of schedule work by a contractor in New Smyrna Beach will allow the rebuilt Manatee All Children’s Playground to reopen a month ahead of schedule. Faith Miller, NSB’s Maintenance Operations Manager, says the playground will have a “soft opening” Saturday, August 1, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for August 28.
Miller says the old playground was built 21 years ago and was a great volunteer build at the time, but the new playground is made of rcycled and long-lasting composite material that will stand up to the often brutal Florida weather and environment.
The contractor is finishing up a few mostly cosmetic projects at the site, but the equipment is all in and ready to go according to Miller.
The sea-themed playground has three main structures-a lighthouse with a submarine tunnel, a pirate ship, and a sandcastle. Photos with the story are from the City of New Smyrna Beach.
The playground is in Riverside Park.
To help fund future additions, the community can purchase personalized fence pickets that will be included in the playground fence. The pickets can have an individual name or business name on them. For more on the pickets click here.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is Friday, August 28, at 6 PM during the City’s annual Family Fun Night event.
