Daytona Beach, FL – A video from homeless advocates has apparently landed the man Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood blames for creating the recently broken-up homeless camp on North Beach Street into the middle of a fraud investigation.
Detectives are looking into Michael Pastore – better known as “Pastor Mike” – based in part on a YouTube video reportedly created by Chico & Debbie Jimenez. That video is posted above this article.
The Jimenezes – founders of the “Spreading The Word Without Saying a Word” ministry based in New Smyrna Beach – were cited by DBPD last year for trying to hold mass feedings of the homeless at Manatee Island Park. Those charges have since been dismissed. (Click here for that story.)
Chitwood took aim at Pastore and an unnamed local politician during a press conference earlier this week about the homeless camp, saying it evolved into a haven for all sorts of criminal activity before it was dismantled by force last Friday.
The DBPD Chief also called Pastore a “fraud” who was more interested in helping himself than the homeless during that press conference. (Click here for that story.)
