12-31-15 biarritz shooting DB 1

Daytona Beach, FL – The hunt continues for a 40-year-old man wanted in the shooting and killing of 2 men at a Daytona Beach nightclub on the morning of New Year’s Eve.

The Daytona Beach Police Department and Crime Stoppers are now offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the capture of Andre “Grip” Mayo. He will be held without bond at Volusia County Jail once he’s caught, according to DBPD.

Mayo is facing 2 counts of 1st-degree murder in the deaths of 21-year-old Kevin M. Stanley of Deltona and 23-year-old Abel Morel of Winter Park at the Biarritz Club on Pearl Street. A 3rd man – 23-year-old Martell Smith – was also shot in that incident.

Officers were sent to the scene after a 911 call around 2:30 AM that Thursday indicated 3 people were shot near the club, located just east of the Bethune-Cookman University campus off of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard.

Stanley died on scene while Morel died soon after arrival at Halifax Health Medical Center. Smith also went to HHMC for treatment.

DBPD believes the shooting stems from some sort of verbal argument between 2 groups of people at the club and that some of the dozens of bystanders helped the shooter conceal evidence and get away before officers arrived.

Most of the other witnesses are refusing to tell police what happened, per DBPD.

At least 1 man – believed to be Smith – was seen on security video taking a severe beating from a group of men prior to the shots being fired by Mayo, according to DBPD.

There were 8 shootings in and around this particular club in 2015, with this one being the first that was fatal, according to DBPD.

DBPD arrested 30-year-old Anthony Dawson nearly 2 weeks after the shooting and he’s been charged with 2 felony murder counts in this incident. He’s held at VCJ without bond.

Anyone with information is asked to call DBPD Detective David Dinardi at 386-671-5219 or email him at dinardid@dbpd.us. Those who want to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward can call Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477.
