Palm Coast, FL - Two Palm Coast residents died in an accident last night when a dump truck backed over them. FHP says minutes before the accident the truck driver had been trying to help the pair.
The victims are identified as 29-year-old Kevin Walsh and 22-year-old Jessica Darby.
Troopers say Walsh tried to drive his pickup truck through a construction zone around 10:30 PM off Forest Grove Drive and his truck became stuck in the dirt. Walsh called friends to help including Darby. They couldn’t get the truck out. A construction worker at the site, identified as Paul Beagan, offered to help by using his dump truck, but that didn’t work. Beagan began to leave and that’s when he backed the truck over the victims. He told troopers he didn’t know the two were behind the truck.
The victims were dead at the scene. Beagan was taken to a hospital complaining of chest pains.
