Daytona Beach, FL – Update: Daytona Beach PD says suspect surrendered around 5 PM Saturday. Earlier reporting follows.
Investigators are looking for a 23-year-old man in a triple shooting at a golf club that killed at least 1 person.
Lamont Keith Postell Jr. – who also goes by the nickname “Corn Bread” – is facing at least 1 murder charge and 2 attempted murder charges following the early Saturday morning incident at Indigo Lakes Golf Club.
Daytona Beach Police Department spokesman Jimmie Flynt says officers were called to the scene around 1 AM after getting reports of shots fired at the clubhouse.
“A party was being held at the clubhouse,” Flynt added. “A fight started inside. Some of the people went outside.”
It was at that point when detectives think Postell got a gun and shot 23-year-old Donkevious Johnson and 2 other people. Johnson died around 40 minutes later after paramedics had taken him to Halifax Health Medical Center, per Flynt.
“All 3 victims are Bethune-Cookman University students,” Flynt noted. “The suspect is not a student.”
First responders found Johnson and a woman – Justine Cunningham – lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Police believe Cunningham – who was also taken to HHMC – was a bystander. She’s in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. No age was given for Cunningham by DBPD.
The 3rd person shot – 21-year-old Tre Jamal Williams – was discovered a few hours after the shooting, per DBPD. He’s in stable condition.
Witnesses told DBPD Postell was with a group of male friends when he got into an argument with Johnson – a BCU football player – and a group of his friends.
Those witnesses also claim that Postell’s been involved in several altercations around the BCU campus.
Postell is described as a black man who stands 5’2 and weighs around 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address is in Miami Gardens.
