Daytona Beach, FL - A 43-year-old Daytona Beach man has been charged with beating two disabled men and forcing them to help him spread his counterfeit money around. Anthony Brulewicz was charged Saturday after a deputy met with one of his alleged victims at a Circle K gas station in Daytona Beach.
Both victims are 100% disabled. They told deputies Brulewicz would print the bogus money, force them to shop with it, take the purchased merchandise and the change. One man told deputies Brulewicz hit him six times Friday night, tossed him to the ground and strangled him.
The other victim said Brulewicz broke a picture frame over his head and would force him to drive around town and then slam his head into the steering wheel if he resisted.
Brulewicz was found at his home with fresh blood on his hand and foot Saturday. Deputies found three counterfeit $20 bills on a table inside the front door of the residence. Investigators also found a printer in the home and more bogus money.
Brulewicz was arrested on two counts of abuse of a disabled adult and three separate counterfeiting charges. He remains in the Volusia County Jail on $25,000 bond as of 12:30 PM Monday.
VCJ records show Brulewicz has been booked there 43 times since June 2001. That includes Saturday’s arrest. He was also arrested 5 different times in 2015 on charges of battery, domestic battery by strangulation, trespassing, resisting an officer, retail theft, indecent exposure and drug possession.
