DeLand, FL – Detectives are looking for whoever stole a trailer from the Rotary Club of Downtown DeLand this weekend.
The DeLand Police Department says the theft was reported around 7:40 PM Sunday (Valentine’s Day) by the owner of Jenkins Carpentry & Construction on East Volusia Avenue.
City of DeLand Community Information Specialist Chris Graham says the 8-foot by 12-foot trailer is a white Express with a tandem axle and it has a rotary logo on all 4 sides.
“It has been used by the charitable organization to haul supplies to cook food at events taking place in downtown DeLand,” Graham added.
According to the incident report, the 65-year-old owner of Jenkins Carpentry & Construction told officers he last saw the trailer on his property around noon on the day before Valentine’s Day (Saturday).
The trailer was found on Monday abandoned in a parking lot several blocks away from where it was stolen, per Graham.
It’s unclear at this time if there were any items in the trailer at the time it was stolen.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DeLand PD Detective Hudson at 386-626-7422 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-8477 to remain anonymous and possibly qualify for a cash reward.
