Daytona Beach, FL – Officers are looking for a man who stole an iPhone from a doctor’s office less than an hour after it closed for the day.

The Daytona Beach Police Department released security video on Tuesday showing the suspect in the August 5th robbery at Halifax Injury Physicians on North Clyde Morris Boulevard. That video is posted above this article.

According to the incident report, the actual theft wasn’t reported to DBPD until nearly 5 days after the crime was committed because that’s when the business owner returned from vacation.

Per the report, a 36-year-old female employee told DBPD she noticed that the phone was missing from the front desk counter when she went back to the office on the morning of August 6th, but no one at the business decided to report it in the hopes it would be found soon.

The woman admitted to searching for the phone and not finding it anywhere, according to the report. She also told officers that the phone’s tracking software had been turned off.

Confirmation that the phone was stolen came after the business owner reviewed the security video and saw that the man got in without any obvious signs of forced entry, per DBPD.

The suspect is described as an African-American man between the ages of 30 and 50 with short hair, long dark pants and a light-colored shirt.

Police aren’t sure of the suspect’s identity since no one at the office recognized him, according to DBPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call DBPD Detective William Brown at 386-671-5238 or brownw@dbpd.us.
